Poor Scout
“Snip, Snip Snip!”, Joked Honey Bunches. “I don’t thinks that’s funny”, I told her. Since Scout the “Wonder Dog” had come from a shelter, the adoption fee covered him getting “fixed“. Being of the male persuasion, I was pretty sure he wasn’t “broke” in the first
place! When Scout got in any trouble, Honey Bunches would again say, “snip, snip, snip”. Scout was just glad she was talking to him and would dance in circles. With his 6 month deadline approaching, I had to take him aside and clue him in.
As I explained the “Snip, snip snip” procedure, his tail sank low, and his eyes opened extremely wide. When Honey Bunches came home, her first question was, “Where’s Scout?” “I think he is in the bathroom”, I replied. She looked in the door and said, “He’s behind the claw foot tub licking himself!” “Sounds about right”, said I.
Scout made his appointment and is none the worse for wear. He sure was glad to make it home. While he was at the vet he also got a rabies shot. I leaned down and attached the rabies tag to his collar. “At least they gave me a medal for it”, Whispered Scout!
Christmas Time’s A Comin’!
The days are getting short here at Salt Creek. Cows are hungry for hay, and the temperature is dropping like a rock! If the weather behaves as it did last year, this could be a long winter. The temps are already around 20 tonight and dropping. I tried to work on my addition roof this evening just after dark. I told “Honey Bunches” I would be up on the rooftop goin’ click, click, click. The frost had already fallen and it was too dang slick!
Being in early, I decided I had better get my letter to Santa written…
